Coffee, Tea, or Democracy?

So today, the Repubs and some Libertarian hangers-on sponsored some astroturf (fake grassroots...thanks P Krug) events around the country called "Tea Parties." The best take came from the esteemed Paul Begala, who I am proud to say the NU College Dems brought to campus last year. He was unbelievably affable and entertaining. Here is his article, and a choice quip:

So why are a bunch of Fox News clowns and right-wing cranks hosting "tea parties" all over the country? The Boston Tea Party, in case the clods at Fox didn't know it, protested "taxation without representation." Note the second word: without. The goofballs tossing tea bags today have representation. They voted in the election; they lost.

Boo yah! Anyway, today the dems organized an event of our own and handed out free coffee (oh yeah, it's iced...sorry people!) with fun facts about the stimulus package and all the good it actually is doing.

Oh, and I also tried my best not to laugh at the lone girl holding a tea party for one that was singing 'America the Beautiful' and other 'patriotic' songs...cause, you know, laughing at people isn't nice.
